Funeral services for Betty Jean Mitchum Rourke, 76, of Barnwell, SC will be held one o’clock p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Olin Wingate officiating; burial will be in the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 1077 Hwy. # 39, Williston, SC 29853. Betty passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.
Born in Manning, SC, she was a daughter of the late John William “Willie” Mitchum and Mallie Eletha Hines Mitchum. She was first married to the late James D. Myers, Sr. and was the widow of James H. Rourke. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Betty enjoyed sewing and fishing and she also enjoyed working in her flower beds and loved to cook for her family.
Survivors include a daughter Eletha (James) Lawrimore; sons Eddie (Cala) Myers, James D. Myers, Jr. all of Barnwell, SC; brother Richard (Connie) Mitchum of Windsor, SC; grandchildren Adam Lawrimore, Dorie Jean Myers, Eddie Myers, Jr., Rebecca Myers, Michael (Dawn) Driggers, Eric (Alesia) Eubanks, Angie Jenkins, Jimmy Jenkins, Chris (Chrissy) Fortner, Nick (Kathy) Fortner; step-sisters Cindy (Charles) Eubanks, Debbie (Ray) Wilder, Cheryl Rourke, Teresa (Lucky) Johnson; several great and great-great grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by grandchildren Jonathan Myers and Michael Lewallen.
