On October 28, 1880, in Madison Cty, Iowa, Edward L. McCorkle married Jane Ellen Thomson. Together the couple had eight children; Norma, George Elmer, Nina Elizabeth, Mable Eleanor, Winnie, Edna, Harold, and Janet.

Former Resident JANE ELLEN McCORKLE Dies in Missouri

Mrs. Jane E. McCorkle, former resident of Madison county, died last Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Winnie Light, at Kansas City, Mo. She was 88 years of age.

Mrs. McCorkle was the former Jane Ellen Thomson, and was born at Oquaka, Ill., on Jan. 27, 1858. When a small child she came to Madison county with her parents. She was married here Oct. 28, 1880, to Edward L. McCorkle.

They lived here until 1909, when they moved near Ridgeway, Mo. In 1919, they moved to Smith Center, Kan., where they lived until the death of Mr. McCorkle in 1935. Since then Mrs. McCorkle had made her home with her children.

She is survived by eight children; Mrs. Norma Eyerly of Altadena, Calif., George McCorkle of Earlham, Mrs. Nina Crumby of Denver, Mrs. Mabel Morse of Denton, Mont., Mrs. Winnie Light of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Edna Landes of Ridgeway, Mo., Harold McCorkle of Cedar, Kan., and Mrs. Janet Lary of Kelso, Wash. She also leaves 38 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held here Saturday from the West Star church, in charge of the Rev. J. Neal Clemmer of Dexter. Burial was made in the Stringtown cemetery.
