In Mar of 1840 Joel's father, Larkin Byas, sells 189 acres to Joel for ONE Dollar. With the stipulation that all income from the land will be for the use of Elizabeth (Harrison) Byas, the wife of Joel.
Larkin Byas did this for each of his own daughters and also for each of his daughters-in-law. In every case the wife was named on the deed and the stipulation of the income from the land would go to each wife, not the husbands.
