RICHMOND HILL, GA ‹ Foster Gemell Hickox, 80, died early Tuesday morning (May 17, 2005) at the Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond Hill. He was a native of Brantley County who lived most of his life in Pierce and Brantley counties before moving to Richmond Hill two-and-a-half years ago.

He worked as a boilermaker for Local 26 in Savannah and was an avid hunter and fisherman until his health began to fail. He attended Daniel Baptist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 391 in Nahunta.

He was a son of the late Riley and Zillie Aldridge Hickox and was also preceded in death by a son, Carl Hickox; a granddaughter, Shannon Marie Chapman; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Linda Hickox, of Richmond Hill; one sister, Ethel Lewis, of Nahunta; four grandchildren, Michelle Lamb, Laura Holden, Ronald Lee Hickox and Kimberly Sue Guastella; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Pearson-Treadwell Chapel.

Burial will be in the Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
