Funeral services for John E. Wilson, 95 of Rayville formerly of Monroe will be at 11 AM Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro with David Wilson and Lee Kittrell officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville. Visitation will be Monday, March 12, 2018 from 5:30-8 PM at the funeral home.

He was born to John Alexander and Barbara Ann Aliene Wilson August 10, 1922 in Nebo, LA. Heaven gained a precious and gentle soul Saturday, March 10, 2018.

Mr. Wilson was a charter member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Bastrop and later served as deacon at Temple Baptist Church and Central Baptist Church in Monroe. He had a giving and a kind heart, and his faith in God was very strong, and his life was a testimony to many other. He was U.S. Army veteran of World War II. After proudly serving his country, Mr. Wilson began studying carpentry. As a building contractor, he built many houses in and around Monroe and was proud of his work.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Barbara Wilson; brothers Sam Wilson and wife Doris, Woodrow Wilson and wife Marie and Ernest Wilson; father-in-law and mother-in-law Willard and Viola Pippin; brother-in-law Willard Pippin, Jr. and daughter-in-law Rhonda Wilson.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife and soul mate of 72 years Doris Wilson of Rayville; children Peggy Thomason and husband Charlie and Michael Wilson off of Rayville; grandchildren Johnica Pitarro, Stephanie Pitarro, Michael Pitarro, Karen Angel, Tori Wilson and Cody Wilson; great grandchildren Camden Pitarro, Owen Pitarro and Ana Wilson; many nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends that he loved dearly and were so special to him.

Pallbearers will be Camden Owen, Trent Parkerson, Michael Pitarro, Cody Wilson and Kim Wilson.
