Census records differ concerning her date/place of birth: 1850 census - born 1815 VA. 1860 Census - born 1810 SC. 1880 Census - born 1811 VA. [1880 census has father born VA, mother born MD]
Spelling of her middle name could also be "Anne"

Her maiden name was possibly "Dare". The Illinois Death/Stillbirth Index 1916-1947 for her daughter "D. Ellie Reynolds" shows "Dare" as the name for D. Ellie's mother, and "Holloway" for the name of D. Ellie's father.

I can find no marriage records for Lucy Ann (MNU) to William Holloway SR. However, in the Holloway genealogy data I received from Rosetta Martin (Holloway descendant) is written: "John Curtis Holloway said he heard his father, John Carroll Holloway say that John Carroll's father was William. The 1820/30 census of St. Clair Alabama shows a William Holloway Sr. The 1830 census also lists a "William Jr."

I found evidence of "deeds" for William SR/JR 1831-49 St. Clair Alabama at

The 1810 census for Baldwin County, Mississippi shows a William Holloway with 1 male over 21; 1 male under 21; 1 female over 21, 1 female under 21 (no slaves). Weblink @

I can find no records for Wm SR/JR past the 1841 deeds.

The earliest definite record I can find for Lucy Ann Holloway is the 1850 census for Tippah County, MS [Lucy A Holloway 35; John C Holloway 17; Desdemana Holloway 14; Martha E Holloway 12. (Unsure, but date/place of birth consistent for Lucy/John). Could "Desdemana" be her dau "Detha"? I assume the John C. is Lucy's son John Carroll Holloway. I cannot find subsequent records for "Martha E. Holloway" so I assume she died prior to 1860.

Per the 1860 US Census Wayne County TN for Lucy Ann Holloway, living with her is her daughter "D. Mathews", 2 Mathews children and John. [[Lucy Ann Holloway 50; John Holloway 25; D Mathews 23; Tennessee Mathews 5; John Mathews 2]. I think the census taker made have made a mistake and written the name of "Tennesse" for Mary's name instead of Mary's birthplace.

Per the 1865 IL State Census John and Lucy A. Holloway are listed as heads of house with 3 males and 3 females. Could the other 2 females be Detha and her daughter Mary Mathews? Detha's son John Mathews would be one of the other males, but who is the 2nd male under age 10? John Holloway would be the male 20-30 years old, and Lucy would be the female 60, under 70.

Lucy Ann's son John Carroll Holloway married Lucinda Darnell 4 June 1862 in Jefferson County.
Lucy Ann's dau Detha, married Samuel W. Reynolds 12 Apr 1866 in Jefferson County.

I cannot find Lucy Ann Holloway at all in the 1870 US Census for Jefferson County, IL. She is not listed in the house of her son John Carroll, nor the house of her daughter Detha Reynolds.

In 1880 US Census, Lucy Ann Holloway is listed as living in the household of her son-in-law, Samuel Reynolds. [Widowed; Relation to Head of House: Mother-in-law; Age 69 bVA; Father bVa, Mother bMD...[Samuel Reynolds 65; Delia Reynolds 38; William Reynolds 17; General Reynolds 12; Anne Reynolds 9 ; Lucyanne Halloway 69]

I can find no data concerning the death/burial of Lucy Ann Holloway.
