Wallace “Wally” Raymond Aase, age 91, of Kenyon died Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Kenyon Sunset Home.

He was born on July 12, 1926 on the family farm and lived there until he entered the Sunset Home. He graduated from Kenyon High School, Class of 1943, where he excelled as an athlete in Baseball, Basketball and Football. Since graduation, he has been an avid fan of all sports. He was married to Virginia Fordahl on July 13, 1951, and they celebrated 66 years of marriage this past summer. He had 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Wally enjoyed farming and managing his dairy herd. Through the years, he also raised turkeys, chickens, and pigs. Along with farming, he worked for Kenyon Township maintaining the roads. Wally enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, snowmobiling, golfing and especially dancing. He and Virginia also took many long drives with the family to look at crops.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; children, Sharon (Bill) Schmidt of Eagan, Roxanne (Paul) Perreault of Waconia, Kathleen (Dennis Merritt) Merritt Aase of Morristown and Gerald (Kathy) Aase of DeKalb, IL; grandchildren, Katrina, Mitchell (Jessica), Zachary, Nicholas, Kayley, Jamie (Ryan), Justine (Jeramy) and Joseph (Samantha); great-grandchildren, Trenton, Zachary, Audrey, and Elizabeth and a sister, Norma Huseth of Kenyon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Anna Aase; four brothers, Oswald, Kermit, Sigurd, Donald and a sister, Ardette.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kenyon with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Reverend Julie Rogness will officiate. Interment will be in the Gol Lutheran Cemetery followed by a lunch reception back at First Evangelical Lutheran.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Kenyon Sunset Home and or Heartland Hospice Care.
