J.T. "Pete" Langston, 83, Logansport, died at 1:05 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007, in Chase Center.

Born June 20, 1923, in Kilbourne, La., he was the son of Roscoe and Lula Williams Langston. He was married Jan. 19, 1945, in Arkansas, to Evelyn Pope, who survives.

Pete retired in 1977 from Logansport Metal Culvert Company.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. During his service, he was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and received a Bronze Star.

Pete was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790 and Vineyard Community Church.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and watching the Atlanta Braves. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sons, Larry Langston and his wife, Joanne, Danville, Ill., Steve Langston and Tim Langston, both of Logansport; seven daughters, Glinda Whitham and her husband, David, Shirley Crain and her husband, Don, Cindy Langston, and Susan Langston, all of Logansport, Kathy Schumacher and her husband, Perry, Phoenix, Ariz., Connie Pickering and her husband, Alan, Decatur, Ill., and Marilyn Singley, Fishers; one brother, Bill Langston and his wife, Evelyn, Kilbourne, La.; 15 grandchildren, Tammy Wagonner, Tyler Langston, Casey Langston, Angie Halvorson, Clayton Dingeldein, Michelle Pine, Adam Crain, Melissa Crain, Michael Benefiel, Tina Benefiel, Randy Benefiel, Terah Pickering, Marcus Pickering, Christopher Singley and Summer Singley; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

His half brother, Jack Osborne; two sisters, Omie Langston and Elizabeth Skeels; and two brothers, Albert Langston and Arthur Langston, preceded in death.
