Born March 1, 1916, in Waverly, Pa., she was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Gladys Deats Clark and a direct descendent of William Deacon Clark, the founder of Clarks Green.
Lavina was preceded in death by her husband, Judson Lewis, in 1987. Together they established many restaurants in the area, including the original Summit Diner and most recently the Homestead Kitchen in Justus. She was noted for her fabulous food and delicious pies. She baked her famous pies that were enjoyed by many for Sebastianelli's Restaurant in Eynon and developed a close relationship with the Sebastianelli family. She was always associated with the restaurant business, if not the owner, the cook, baker, waitress or hostess locally and in California and Florida.
Surviving are her sister, Betty Dodgson, Vestal, N.Y.; brother, Amos Clark, Scott Twp.; grandsons, Scott and his wife; and Paul and his companion; a stepgrandson, William and his wife; nine great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and cherished friends, especially Al Manning and his wife and the pinochle club in which she participated until last year when she moved to New York.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Phyllis and husband, William Heinz; a granddaughter, Lisa; her sister, Helen Clark Silfee; and brothers, Merle and Robert Clark.
Nana was such a loving presence in the lives of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was so full of life and love that we thought she would be with us forever. She will be deeply missed and eternally loved.
A lively, stylish woman, always on the go with more energy than she knew what to do with. A wealth of knowledge for family history with a mind that never quit, she will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clarks Summit, Pa.
