Death of Mrs. Rachel Bean. News has been received of the death of Mrs. Rachel Bean of Clemons, in Helena. Mrs. Bean was a native of Norway but came to America while yet a little girl. Her early life was spent in Minnesota. About 17 years ago she and her husband and family moved to Montana, living for a while in Prickly Pear valley. Later on they moved to a ranch at the mouth of the Dearborn canyon, which has been Mrs. Bean home ever since. Mrs. Bean leaves behind her a large family of grown up sons and daughters. Among them may be mentioned Mr. Samuel J. Bean of Raymond, [Teton Co., MT] Mrs. David Penry of Hogan, and Mrs. Matt Weaver of Clemons. Her death was not unexpected, for it came after a severe illness of nearly two months duration. The funeral took place Thursday afternoon [May 16, 1901] on Flat Creek.
