Garnett E. Bryant

Garnett E. Bryant, 88, died Friday, March 30, 2007, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born June 2, 1918, to the late Nathan and Ermine (Bryant) Bryant. He married Jean (Brannan) Bryant on Aug. 5, 1940. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Don (Sue) Bryant of Carmel and Dr. Doug Bryant of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Judy (Earl) Miller of Edinburgh and Wilma (John) Moore of Trafalgar; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, Everett, Henry, Marvin, Russell, Wallace and Earl Bryant; and two sisters, Rissie Norton and Carry Wade.

He was a member of Edinburgh United Methodist Church and the National Campers and Hikers Association, where he was the former president of the local group. He served on Johnson County Park Board for nine years and was a former trustee of Edinburgh United Methodist Church.

He retired in 1981 after 33½ years of service for General Motors in Indianapolis.

The Rev. Byron Fritz will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Edinburgh United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until service time Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Edinburgh American Legion Post 233.

Memorial contributions may be made to Edinburgh United Methodist Church, 107 W. Campbell St., Edinburgh, IN 46124, or Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 E. 17th St., Columbus, IN 47201.
