November 3, 1929 - February 8, 2018

88 year old Fairfield, Illinois resident Voris “Deadeye” York died at 10:15 a.m. Thursday February 8, 2018 at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Voris worked 40+ years at Airtex Products, leading the UAW for many years as President. Later he served as Foreman of the Shipping Department. Voris was a Veteran serving his country in the U.S. Army.

Voris was born November 3, 1929 in Hamilton County, Illinois to Palymer York and Mayme Springer York. He was united in marriage April 11, 1952 to Kathleen Holdren who died February 9, 2017.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Voris was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kathleen, 2 sisters Venna Martin and Helen Ingram, and 4 brothers Homer, Colleen “Jaybird”, Cletus, and Clyde York.

Funeral services for Voris “Deadeye” York will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday February 12, 2018 at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois with Brothers John Klockenga and Carroll Kakac officiating. Burial will be in the Old Springer Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Anthony Wayne American Legion Post 176 and Wayne Memorial VFW Post 4535.

Visitation will be conducted from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday February 12, 2018 at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
