Nancy Jane Boothe Bragg
July 21, 1935 - February 3, 2018

Nancy Jane Boothe Bragg, 82, of Salem, Va., joined her husband in Heaven on Saturday, February 3, 2018, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born July 21, 1935 to her loving parents, the late Brady and Alma Boothe of Floyd, Va. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 58 years, Leonard Bragg. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Brady Boothe, Jr. and her sisters, infant Shirley Boothe, Thelma Smith, Edna Moles, Virginia Graham, Estelle Shealor, and Jean Huff.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Gary Williams, Salem, Va., Sandy and Chris Whisnant, Salem, Va., and Pam and Allan Malina, Evington, Va. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Amy and Jordan Mau, Ashley Whisnant, Brian Whisnant, Noah Malina, Nathan Malina, and Caleb Malina. She was also GiGi to her precious great-grandchildren, Savannah and Waylon Mau. Survivors also include her brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Betty Boothe, Joe and Mary Boothe, sister, Anne Jones, and sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Gary Horton, all of Floyd, Va. As well as many nieces and nephews who adored her.

She graduated from Floyd High School in Floyd, Va. She met Leonard in Pulaski, Va. And they married on October 2, 1952. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, but also retired from Crest Uniforms. She was a member of Mason Cove Church of the Brethren for over 50 years and most recently New Creation Ministries. Her Christian faith was extremely important to her and she spent most of her life sharing her faith not only through word and actions, but through music, especially through Gospel and Bluegrass music. She spent a lifetime singing in churches throughout the valley, either with her family or with Chi-Chi and Eric Gabbert, as the New Dawn Quartet for 11 years. She was also a longtime member of The Fiddle and Banjo Club. After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with friends and family, and often discussed how very blessed she was to have those opportunities of fun and fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Creation Ministries, Mason Cove Church of the Brethren, or to World Reach Ministries.

The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at noon on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Oakey’s North Chapel with Rev. Rick Elmore officiating. The interment service will be held at 3 pm Wednesday in Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Floyd, Va. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 pm on Tuesday, February 6, at Oakey’s North Chapel (540-362-1237). Online condolences may be expressed at www.oakeys.com .
