Born July 23, 1928, in Clarion, Pa., he attended Clarion State College and Kent State after which he taught school for 30 years in Willoughby. He moved to California seven years ago where he enjoyed biking, hiking, restoring antiques and exploring California. He is best known as a kind, gentle, giving friend who showed his strength and character in his fight against cancer.
Survivors are his wife, Nancy Minich; children, Linda Freas of LaVale, Md., Dr. Roger Minich of Oakdale, Calif., David Minich of Willoughby, Diane LaRue of Detroit, Mich.; step-daughter, Valerie McCarthy of Camino, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Doris Kutz of Harrisburg, Pa.
His mother, Elsie Mae Minich, and father, Charles Minich, are deceased.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thanks for the kindness shown to him during his illness.
His ashes will be scattered in the river in which he used to play with his dog, Taylor.
