Saturday evening, January 9th, death came to relieve the sufferings of Mrs. Bert Gilbertson, one of the early settlers of the Zerkel community. Mrs. Gilbertson has been ailing for many years and for the last four years has been confined to a wheel chair and to her bed, unable to do her work, and at time even unable to help herself.
Mrs. Gilbertson was born at Black Earth, Wisconsin, June 22nd, 1877. In 1897 she was united in marriage to Bert Gilbertson at Grafton, North Dakota. They soon moved to Bagley and about 25 years ago they moved to their present home at Zerkel where death claimed her at the age of 54 years, 6 months and 17 days.
She leaves to mourn her departing, her husband, Bert Gilbertson; one daughter, Mrs. Widmark; three sisters, Mrs. Walter Day of Bagley; Mrs Henry Huseby of Tacoma, Washington, and Mrs. D.J. Sutherland of Spokane, Washington. One brother, Oscar Moen of Kallispell, Montana and one grandchild, also survive her.
Funeral services were held at the Rice Lutheran Church, Tuesday, January 12th at 2 o'clock, Rev. A.P. Anderson officiating. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Peterson Funeral Service with interment being made at the Rice Cemetery.
May the God of Love and the Mercy comfort the bereaved in this their hour of sorrow.
