John Laverty Jr, 53, of 359 W. South St., died at 5:45 a.m. yesterday at Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis after a lengthy illness. Born May 13, 1923, in Clinton County, he was the son of John and Ethel (Jones) Laverty. In 1952 he married Eleanor Mounts, and she survives. Mr. Laverty lived all his life in Clinton County. He was retired, was a member an Eagle member, and was a World War II veteran. Other survivors include his mother of Colfax; three sons, Paul R. And Patrick, both of Frankfort, and John of Bloomington, Ill.; two daughters Pamela Lynn Carney and Carol Ann Black, both of Frankfort; one sister, Betty Stevens of Colfax; one stepbrother, George Anderson of Frankfort; and seven grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Roustio officiating. Burial will be in Plain View Cemetery, Colfax. Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. today.
