He was born April 25, 1922, in Gardners to the late Howard Sr. and Susie (Paxton) Cline and was the widower of Betty L. (Gelsinger) Cline who passed April 19, 2001.
John honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from the former Reading Railroad after 35 years of service. John was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle. He was a founding member of the International Watch Fob Association. He enjoyed collecting watch fobs and antique toy trucks and the time he spent with his loving family.
He is survived by: two daughters, Linda S. (husband Richard) Mohler, of Lewistown, and Deborah C. Ryerson (and companion, James Stanfield), of Carlisle; two granddaugh- ters, Rachel Mohler (husband Eric) Newman and Sarah Mohler (husband Jeffrey) Johnson; four great- grandchildren, Alexander and William Newman and Madelyn and Eleanor Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Ditzel and Helen Slusser, and a brother, Howard Cline Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, with the Revs. Steve P. Motter and Anthony D. Lorenz co-officiat- ing. Burial will follow at Westminster Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. There will be a viewing at 10 a.m. until the time of services, Friday, at the funeral home.
