Born July 23, 1920, at Wapato, to Charles and Amy (Long) Poisel, she was reared and attended schools there.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in White Salmon, and a lifetime member of White Salmon Chapter 107, Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing.
On Nov. 22, 1967, she married Fred Thornton in White Salmon. He survives her at home in Chehalis. Also surviving are a son, Fred Jr. Of Reedsport; five daughters, Deletha Goodrich of Rochester, Nada Duncan of Chimicum, Linda Warner of Packwood, Wanda Gribner of White Salmon and Cathy Thornton of Chehalis; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
