nb: Although the headstone indicates he was born in 1860, my best guess would be 1864. He is not on the 1861 Census with his parents, marriage in Dec 1887 to Eliza Ellen Sharpin indicates she was 25 and he was 23. Marriage to Elizabeth Ramsay in Sep 1891 indicates he was 26.

Bio Written by Leona Eamer in 1970

Jacob Eamer was born in Brussells, Ontario, in Huron county. He married Elizabeth Ramsay. She was born at Morris, Ontario. they were married October [sic Sep ?] 23, 1891, in Bluevale, Ontario. the Rev A. Hartley officiating.

There were eight children. The first two, Laura Pearl and Elva Leona, were born in Brussells, Ontario. We moved west to Souris, Manitoba, in 1895,where my dad spent a few years as miller in McCulloch and Herritt Flour Mills. Dad was noted in Souris for being a wonderful gardener.

Then along came Manitoba prairie chickens - Jennie (Jean Victoria). Allan Ramsay and Myra (Edith Almyra).

Pearl and myself (Leona) started school in Souris with little red dresses and white pinafores on.

As the dust in the mill bothered Dad, we moved to the Joe Fallis farm northeast of Souris. Later we sold out and moved to Carlyle to another farm.

The spring before moving to Carlyle, we all pilled in a sleigh box and drove to my uncle's at Carroll. After visiting, we left for home. The high roads were getting soft and the horses slid off. The box started filling up with water and we had to walk to the nearest place (Frank Fallis) and get dry. We waited for the road to freeze a little so we could get on our way.

After selling out at Carlyle, we moved to Elgin on a farm three miles north. This is where Alfred George, Harold Nelson, and Verna Adeline were born. We all attended Elgin School. When we would be driving into school, we would try to race with Lillian and Clara Dunnett.

In 1913 the farm was sold and Dad bought a house formerly owned by T. P. Jackson. They lived there until Dad passed away August 29, 1939 and Mother January 3, 1941. Harold continued to live in his father's home. He married Nita Hamm who worked in the Bank of Commerce. After a few years, they left Elgin to live in Winnipeg.
