Wayne Ackermann, 62, Overland Park, KS, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2004, at the University of Kansas Medical Center of complications of Autoimmune Hepatitis, surrounded by his family.

A Celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24 at United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Leawood, KS.

Wayne was born November 6, 1941, in Carrollton, MO, the son of Emma and August F. Ackermann.

He graduated from Central Missouri State College, and began his career in the graphic arts industry at Inter Collegiate Press. He established a new territory for News Photo Yearbook Co. in Colorado from 1969-1974. He then returned to work at Inter Collegiate Press in Mission. In 1977, he began working at Spangler Printers as a graphics counselor, where he worked for 20 years and was on the Board of Directors before retiring in 1997, to pursue his dream of personal investment management. In 1999, he was awarded the F. Earl Spangler Lifetime Achievement Award.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Jeanne; He also leaves two sisters and a brother.

Wayne was an amazing man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His family will remember him as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who upheld the virtues of loyalty, morality, dignity, and faith.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the KU Liver Transplant Program in memory of Wayne Ackermann, payable to KU Endowment, 3901 Rainbow Blvd., Mail Stop 3012, Kansas City, KS, 66160. (Arr. McGilley State Line Chapel, 816-942-6180)
