Eldon Ackerman, age 80, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Carroll House, Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born February 6, 1925 in Carroll County, Missouri, the son of August F. and Emma Rowold Ackerman. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1942.

On October 25, 1945, Eldon married Shirley E. McCraw in Kansas City, Missouri. She survives at the home.

Eldon was a farmer and served in the Air Force during World War II with the 15th A.F. B17 as a Radio Operator in Fogia, Italy. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Carrollton, Missouri; and he served as Carroll County Western Commissioner for fourteen years; was a charter member of the Carrollton Country Club, a member of the Carrollton Historical Society, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had resided in Richmond and Norborne before coming to the Carrollton area.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, Eldon is also survived by two sons, Gary Wayne Ackerman, Edgerton, Missouri, Richard Leland Ackerman and wife Connie, Blue Springs, Missouri; two sisters, Evelyn Wiechert, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Eleanor Valbracht, Brookfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Trent A. Ackerman, Kyle W. Ackerman, Brandon W. Ackerman, Dallas N. Ackerman and Derick L. Ackerman; four great grandchildren, Peyton G. Ackerman, Jackson W. Ackerman, Blake W. Ackerman and Spencer A. Ackerman; and several nieces and nephews.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mildred Ackerman McFall and one brother, Wayne Ackerman.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Carrollton, Missouri, with Pastor Eric Swyres officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri with Military graveside services.

Mr. Ackerman will lie in state on Friday, April 8, 2005 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, from 1:00-5:00 p.m.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Carrollton Lutheran Radio Hour or the family's choice. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.
