Geraldine B. Schuelein, 92, of Jefferson City passed away peacefully on Friday, October 06, 2017 at Summit Villa in Holts Summit.
She was born on January 8, 1925 in Ashland, Missouri the daughter of Hugh Coleman and Lela Verna (Trantham) Burnett, who preceded her in death.
She was united in marriage on February 25, 1946 in Jefferson City to Edward J. Schuelein, who preceded her in death on December 5, 2003.
She was a 1943 graduate of Ashland High School in Ashland, Missouri. During her high school years, she lettered in Basketball and served as co-captain of her team, she also served her community well as, “Ms. Ashland.”
Later, she worked at Camp Crowder near Joplin, Missouri as a secretary at the time of WWII. Early in her marriage, Gerry worked with Missouri Department of Employment Security as an Administrative Assistant.
She participated in a bowling league and made a few birdies on the golf course at Meadow Lake Acres.
She loved to travel and one of her favorite passions was attending CBS Conventions with her husband, Ed. She could be found having her photo taken with celebrities.
Gerry found enjoyment gambling, dancing, eating chocolate and drinking sweet tea.
She was a long time member of Faith Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her four daughters: Sharon Bates, Beverly (Jeff) Schrimpf, Debbi (Mike) McElwaine, and Cindy Schuelein, all of Jefferson City; one sister-in-law: Elizabeth Burnett of Ashland; five grandchildren: Stephanee (Luke) Mueller, Jennifer (Aaron) Hemmel, Craig (Danielle) McElwaine, Brett (Nikki) McElwaine, and Kirk (fiancée, Emma Derrington) McElwaine, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one grandson: Christopher Scott Bates; two brothers: Pete Burnett and Delmar Burnett and three sisters: Lorice Calvert, Audrell Roberson and Becky Vanderfeltz.
Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2017 at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Houser- Millard Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bart Larson, officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Summit Villa Resident Activity Fund.
