"News received here Saturday told of the death of John Ballard, age 84, in a hospital at Poplar Bluff. John was a native of Ellsinore, born here and grew to manhood, and for many years was employed at the big mills at Grandin and Ellsinore.
For many years, however, he had made his home in Poplar Bluff. He is survived by one brother, Lee Ballard at Auburn, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Golda Neighbors and Mrs. Phronia O'Howell, both of Cape Girardeau. One cousin, George Ballard, and several distant relatives, live at Ellsinore. Funeral services were at Poplar Bluff Tuesday and burial there in the City Cemetery.
