Fort Bend Herald, December 20, 2017:

Ella Kraft Seiler Brown of Rosenberg, Texas, passed away on December 15, 2017, along with her husband of almost 36 years, James Steven Brown. She was born in Needville, Texas, the daughter of Hugo Kraft Sr. and Ella Meyer Kraft.

Ella grew up in the Woodrow Community near the Brazos Bend State Park and graduated from Needville High School. After attending Wharton County Junior College, she was employed by the Federal Government with the Selective Service System in Fort Bend County. After the Vietnam War ended, she transferred to a position with the Texas Department of Health as a Medical Records Transcriptionist and was later promoted to the Texas Department of Health in Public Health Region 8. Ella was the designer of the Veterans War Memorial located on the lawn of the Fort Bend County Courthouse.

Ella was then employed by Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Homes and Cemeteries as a Receptionist and Counselor and was later promoted to Family Service Manager, a position she held until her retirement in 2007.

Ella is a paternal great-granddaughter and descendant of pioneer German immigrants, Johann Heinrich and Katherine Roege Kraft, and Conrad and Margarethe Roege, first founders of New Braunfels, Texas and first founders of the First German Protestant Church of New Braunfels.

She was baptized and confirmed in the First English Lutheran Church of Damon, which was founded by her maternal grandparents, Charles Meyer of Berlin, Germany and Helene Damek Meyer of Ostrava, Austria.

Ella was a certified member of Texas First Families and registered with the State Genealogical Society. She was an active member in the Grand Lodge of the Sons of Hermann and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas in the Fort Settlement Chapter in Sugar Land. She was a member of the Comal County Genealogical Society, Sophienberg Museum Society of New Braunfels, German-Texan Heritage Society of Austin, and a past member of the Fort Bend County Chapter of the Texas German Society.

Ella was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Seiler Davis; her parents, Hugo Sr. and Ella Meyer Kraft; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Max Mahlmann; a brother and sister-in-law, Hilbert C. and Lillie Kraft; and a brother, Hugo Kraft Jr.; niece, Jean Elaine Mahlmann; nephew, Leslie Seiler; and step-son, Taylor Brown.

Survivors are her son, Charles E. Seiler and wife, Patty Dornbach Seiler, of Richmond; and son-in-law, Syd 'Ren' Davis III of Richmond; grandchildren, Penny Davis Meek of Richmond, Julie Davis Gaston and husband, Robert, of Needville, Amy Davis Dybala and husband, Chris, of Rosenberg, Nathan Seiler and Jennifer Spivey of Richmond, and Brent Seiler and Amber Gallagher of Rosenberg; great-grandchildren, Cody Meek and Morgan Meek. Survivors also include step-children, Melody Tylich of Houston and husband, Jim, Sally Kubecka and husband, David, of Houston; step-grandchildren, Elissa Dornbach Norris and husband, Josh, of Cypress, Krissy Dornbach Lacey and husband, Chris, of New Braunfels, April Brown Buckingham and husband, Brian, of Denton, Sterling Kubecka of Houston, and Garland Kubecka of Pearland; step-great-grandchildren, Carter Norris, Brody Norris, Alexa Ivory, Austin Buckingham, and Bailey Buckingham.

Ella answered to many names, Mom, Mother, Nanny, Ms. Mae, Ms. Ella by her co-workers, and was fondly referred to as Aunt Mae by her many nieces and nephews who remained very close to her.

Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017, in the chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2017, in the chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
