Dorothy Louise “Dottie” Senn Vito, 92, formerly from Arlington, Texas, passed away the morning of December 18, 2017 in Garden City, Idaho.
Dottie was born on February 9, 1925 in Newberry, South Carolina. The daughter of the late George C. & Estelle K. Kibler Senn.
She grew up on her parents farm in Newberry where she was taught the ways of life by her maternal grandmother.
She moved to Charleston where she worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Here in Charleston is where she met and married her first husband, John W. Bessinger in September of 1942. They welcomed their only child, Mary Frances that next June.
Johnny and Dottie were divorced in 1953. That same year she was married to George M. Gale. Shortly after they wed, they moved their small family to Seattle, Washington where George was stationed. George was re-stationed in Orange County, California in 1956. Dottie began working for Hughes Aircraft Company as a general typist for 3 years. During these times, Dottie began raising her eldest granddaughter, Shari Ann. George and Dottie were divorced in 1961 in California and Dottie moved to Los Angeles County. There she began working for NAA Inc., Space & Information Systems Division (NASA) in July of 1962. Dottie retired from here in 1990.
On May 13, 1974, Dottie married the love of her life, Anthony J. Vito. The couple began to live their happily ever after. They moved to Anaheim, California and had a beautiful view of Disney Land’s firework show every night from their backyard. Tony’s health began to decline and they moved to Arlington, Texas where they lived together but a short time. While Tony was in the hospital, Dottie became good friends with his nurse, Jean Meehan, Jean was nothing short of guardian angel looking over Dottie. Tony passed away on April 24, 1995.
Dottie continued to live her life in Arlington where she attended church at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
In May of this year, Dottie made the move to Idaho to be with her family. She was looked after by her granddaughter, Suzie Wilson and her two children, Brian and Rachel Shemwell.
Dottie was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary F. Green; husband, Anthony J. Vito; her father and mother; her siblings, Frances E. Bickley, Helen C. Bellone and G. Harold Senn; and her maternal grandmother, Linnie E. Kibler.
She is survived by 5 grandchildren, Susan A. Wilson of Boise, Idaho; Shari A. Cook of Spokane, Washington; Julie A. Eldred and Timothy J. Green, both of Horseshoe Bend, Idaho; and Deborah R. Hill of Sequim, Washington; her son-in-law, Benjamin M. Green of Horseshoe Bend, Idaho; 16 great-grandchildren and 22 ½ great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in her memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1927 S. W. Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, Texas 76017.
The family plans to have a private graveside in Horseshoe Bend where she will be put to rest beside her beloved husband Tony and daughter Mary at a later date.
