Uyless D. Hensley, age 87, of the DeBusk Community, passed away early Monday morning after a lengthy illness at Signature Healthcare surrounded by his family.

He was retired from MECO and was a retired upholster. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Hensley was a former member of the Debusk Volunteer Fire Department and Buffalo Valley Car Club.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: David Lynn and Pat Hensley, Larry and Amy Hensley; three grandchildren: Dave Hensley, Libby and Jonah Scott, and Matthew Hensley; one great-granddaughter: Nora Scott; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Billie Hensley, Harold and Frances Murray, J.C. and Ruby Jennings, Shirley Ward, Nadine and David Barnette, J.D. and Vickie Randolph; several nieces and nephews; special friend: Orgal Miller.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Lois Hensley; parents: Rev. Clark Hensley and Stella Hensley; four brothers: Wayland, Clifford, C.D., and Arlin Hensley.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Signature Healthcare for their love and care and to the staff of Amedysis Hospice.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. The Rev. Willis Bowers will officiate. The Greene County Honor will convey military honors. Family and friends are asked to meet at Doughty-Stevens at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 5 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Dave Hensley, Jonah Scott, Matthew Hensley, Snide Hensley, Virgil Murray, and Sammy Jennings.
