RIVERTON - Our loving Mother Melva E. Burrows Monk, 84 died peacefully in her sleep March 19, 2003.

Born Jan 27, 1919 in Hatch, Utah to James Bascom and Mary Ann Hatch Burrows. Married Jones Welch Monk Oct. 2, 1940 in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. He preceded her in death.

Melva graduated from Springville High School, worked in the V.A. Hospital and at Tooele Army Depot. She was a member of the LDS church and served as a Temple worker for many years. Her family was her pride and joy. She was admired for courage, tolerance, humility and determination. She always put everyone needs and wants above her own.

Survived by children, Sheldon Jones (Amy), Layton, Doyle (Sue) So. Jordan; Edyth (Lynn) Pehrson, Orem; Kathy Waters, Riverton; Lynn, Salt Lake City; 30 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren; brothers Herbert (Lilly) Burrows, Springville; Harold (Fern) Mt. Pleasant; sister-in-law Grace Burrows, Ogden. Preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Sat. at 11 a.m. at the Riverton 7th Ward 12459 Dansie Way, Friends may Call Fri. Eve. From 6-8 p.m. at the Broomhead Funeral Home l2600 So. 2200 W. and on Sat. one hour prior at the church. Interment Redwood Estates.
