Matilda was the daughter of William Clinton Wilson and Mary Ann Western Wilson. She married Charles Tind Sorenson 13 April 1895 in Gibbonsville, Lemhi, Idaho. Charles and Matilda had 13 children, 6 died young. She married Fred Tanner in 1959 at the age of 80 years

Obituary:
Mrs. Matilda Sorensen Tanner,83, died this morning in a local hospital. Born Nov 18, 1877, in Ogden Utah, she was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints and had lived in this area since 1922.
Mrs Tanner is survied by her husband Fred Tanner, whom she met as a result of being "Queen for a Day". She had been selected to appear on that program last spring, a correspondence was started between the couple and they were Married July 31, 1959.
She was the mother of Ted, Wilson and Carl Sorenson; and Mrs. Dora Tunnell, Mrs. Celia Enos and Mrs. Charlotte Main all of Santa Maria, she also leaves 26 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of the Dudley Mortuary with Bishop Clayton Call of the Church of Latter Day Saints officiating.
Interment will be in Santa Maria Cemetery.
