GARDNER – Viljo W. Friberg, 84, of 73 Sand St. died Monday in Heywood Hospital following an illness.
Born in Westminster on Feb. 1, 1915, he was the son of John A. and Wilhelmina (Maki) Friberg.
He was a 1933 graduate of Fitchburg High School.
Mr. Friberg was a member of Local 4, Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union of Worchester, until his retirement in 1980. He previously co-owned and operated B & F Welding Co., Gardner, for several years.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Church.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Evangeline (Leger) Friberg, of Gardner; two sons, Wayne W. Friberg of West Boylston and Richard A. Friberg of Garner; a daughter, Jo-Ann Gibson of York, S.C.; a brother, Frank Friberg of Westminster; a sister, Edith Rudziak of Westminster, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial of cremains will be Notre Dame Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
