Wounded in War Zone, Sgt. Seminick Dies in Jacksonville Hospital

Sgt. Nicholas Seminick, 29, U. S. Marine Corps, a Guadalcanal veteran, died last Wednesday in the U. S. Naval Hospital, Jacksonville, Fla., where he had been a patient for five months. Sgt. Seminick's home is at 21 Locust street, Muse. The immediate cause of his death was not disclosed. Sgt. Heminick enlisted in the Marines in November, 1939. He trained at Parris Island, S. C, and later at Quantico and New River.

Served at Guadalcanal

Given an overseas assignment, he served with the first invasion wave at Guadalcanal, where he was stricken by malaria and transferred to Australia to recuperate. While in Australia he suffered an injury, reportedly while riding a horse, and later was transferred to a service hospital at Corona, Calif.

Following a leave at his home, he was returned to Quantico and had been in the hospital at Jacksonville since last April. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Wasil Seminick, of Muse, he was born at Pierce, W. Va., December 17, 191?.

Well Known in Area

Surviving besides his parents are his wife, Eleanor Seminick; three brothers, John and Michael, both of Detroit, and Andrew, of Philadelphia, a catcher with the Philadelphia National League baseball team, and three sisters, Mrs. Ann Iski, Mrs. Mary Torsky and Mrs. Helen Moscheck, all of Detroit. Friends are being received at the late home, where funeral services with full military honors, will be held Tuesday, August 28, at 2 p. in., followed by additional services at the St. John's Russian Orthodox Church, in charge of the Rev. B. G. Horsky. Burial will be in Oak Spring Cemetery.
