Obituary from the Shreveport Times newspaper, Dec. 5, 1980, Friday, p. 24:

SHREVEPORT – Services for Mr. Achilles D. (Jack) Armenakis, 84, of 736 McCormick St., will be at 3 p.m. Friday Dec. 5 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Father John Demos, of the church, officiating. Interment will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

A Trisagion will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Wellman Funeral Chapel.

He died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday Dec. 4 at Roseview Nursing Home.

Mr. Armenakis was born in Vrondados, Chios, Greece. He was the retired owner of the Texas Avenue Café and a member of the Order of AHEPA, the Shreveport Lodge Masonic Order, the El Karubah Shrine, and the St. George Greek Orthodox Church. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife, Irma Lee Mize Armenakis; two daughters, Mrs. Dan C. Booras and Mrs. P. E. Skamangas, all of Shreveport; two sons, Lt. Col. D. A. Armenakis, Annandale, Virginia, and Dr. Achilles A. Armenakis, Auburn, Alabama; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Kufopantelis, Mrs. Despina Mathioudis and Mrs. Malamo Diomataris; one brother, Andrew Armenakis; all of Chios, Greece; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be E. Donald Mize, Harry A. Booras, Jr., Gus J. Theo, Alex S. Mijalis, John Malant, Socrates D. Lorant, Nick Mandrapilias, Nick Jordan.

The family requests any memorial contributions be made to the St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
