GALESBURG -- Robert L. Stroops Sr., 62, of 2364 Lillie Lane died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at the home of his son, 1631 Beecher Ave. He was born Aug. 23, 1935, in Galesburg to Carl Sr. and Ethel Stambaugh Stroops.
Surviving are three sons; three daughters; three brothers; one sister; and four grandchildren.
One brother preceded him in death.
An Army veteran, he was a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. He last worked for New & Used Furniture in Abingdon.
He had served as president of the former Visually Handicapped Work Center Inc. of Galesburg.
Services held at Watson Funeral Home. Burial at Memorial Park Cemetery, where military rites were conducted by his American Legion post.
