William Harrison Sade was born in 1851, at Farmer's Creek, near Ironhills, in Jackson County, Iowa to Thomas Jefferson Sade Jr (1819-1916) and Phoebe Ann Conklin (Sade) (1830-1910).

In 1872, William married Alcy Dora Webb Edwards, a Native American girl who had been taken in by Ira Edwards and his wife Cynthia "Syntha" Williamson later Williams, who married first, Franklin "Frank" Snodgrass and later Ira Edwards in 1861. The Edwards family and their relations were known for their kindhearted ways, and orphaned children can be found among several of the various relatives.

Together, William Harrison Sade and Alcy Dora "Elsie" Webb Edwards (Sade) had at least 13 children, eight of whom lived to adulthood:

William and Alcy Dora moved to Osborne County, Kansas sometime before 1880, then back to Miller in Woodbury County, Iowas by 1885. By 1900, they were living in Otter, Garfield County, Oklahoma, then to Benton in Douglas County, Missouri by 1910. In 1920, they were living Spring Creek, Douglas County, Missouri.

Following the death of Alcy Dora in 1925, William remained a widower, living in Douglas and Greene counties in Missouri.

He died 3 Feb 1940 in Springfield, Missouri and was buried at Ava Cemetery Section 1920, Plot 14 between his wife and mother.
