Lois Marie (Barnes) Warner was born in Walnut Ridge, AR on Dec 18, 1924. She was the 7th of 8 children of Sarah Estes and Edgar Barnes.
When she was a young girl her family moved to OK in a school bus during the Dust Bowl. She grew up on a farm in Willow, OK and graduated high school at Ocina.
As a young woman she moved to OKC with 2 sisters. She worked at Rector's Bookstore downtown. Marie married Harold "Joe" Warner in 1949. They had 3 daughters: Cathy, Debra and Donna. In 1954 they moved to Del City where they lived all of their married life. She was a homemaker, gardener, skilled seamstress and a devoted grandmother. She and Joe were both voracious readers who shared a love of hobbies. The family enjoyed sailing on Lake Hefner when the girls were in their teens.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ethel, Opal and Edith; brothers Boyce, Hubert and Carl. Her husband of 50 years passed away in 2000. She is survived by her younger brother, Darrell; daughters: Cathy (and Melvin) Fitzhugh and sons, Rob and Spencer; Debra (and Roy) Midkiff and daughter, Lauren; Donna Cline and sons, Morgan, Eric and Henry.
The family thanks the compassionate caregivers at Mercy Hospital, Bellevue Rehabilitation, and Frontier Hospice. A private family memorial service will be held Sept 25th at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Del City, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the above or Free to Live Animal Sanctuary.
