It is with heavy hearts that the family of David (Dave) William Hogan notify of his peaceful passing on the morning of Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the age of 74. As per Dave’s wishes, his final breath was taken in the comfort of his home at the lake with his family by his side.

Dave was born in 1943 in Port Arthur, Ontario, the third son of Joe and Kay Hogan, where he grew up on Prospect Avenue with his four brothers and three sisters. Dave attended St. Andrews and Hillcrest High schools and would spend time in the summers with the family at Two Island Lake visiting the Murphy camp. This was where he learned to love the great outdoors and the log cabin which he would eventually own and thoroughly enjoy.

Dave worked for Atkinson’s Jewellers, F.C.A. and it was during his time there that he met his future wife Maureen Caren who he married in 1967. In 1976 Dave opened the business, P.C.M. Collections, with partner Neil Wiens, and in 2001 selling the business and retiring.

Dave’s pastimes included fishing, camping at Two Island Lake, Little League Baseball, Broomball (Doran’s, Volunteer Pool, Hodder Avenue Hotel), curling (T.B.C.C. & Port Arthur C.C.) , golfing (T.B.C.C. and Port Charlotte Golf Club) cross country skiing, sailing, boating, water skiing and to relax a nice hot sauna at the lake. In his retirement years Dave and Maureen would enjoy the winter months in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Dave will always be missed by his wife, Maureen, son Dave, brothers Michael (Brenda) Calgary, AB, Frank (Theresa), Marathon, ON, Paul, Kaministiqua, ON, sisters Maureen (Hannu) Ahokas, Thunder Bay, Anne (Mel) Parr, Thunder Bay, Patty (Ralph) Kitler, Lively, ON, brother-in-law Ted (Lynn) Caren, Sisters-in-law Audrey (Julian) Yaworsky, Jackie (Tim Lawson) Lalonde and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dave was predeceased by his parents Joe and Kay Hogan, brother Ken, nephew Bill, and sister-in-law Evelyn, and In-laws Jack & Gladys Caren, brothers-in-law Jerry Caren, Bill and wife Marie Caren.

A special thanks to Dr. Kathleen Simpson and the North West Community Care Access Centre/LHIN for making it possible for Dave to return home for hospice.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 8, 2017 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Valhalla Ballroom where words of tribute will be offered at 3:30 p.m. According to Dave’s wishes bring stories of happy times shared over the years.
