Harry Uhing, 95, of Parks, died Wednesday (Jan. 19, 2005) in West Haven Nursing Home, Washington Township.

Born May 13, 1909, in Parks, he lived in the township all of his life.

Before retiring in 1971, he worked for 48 years in the finishing department of US Steel, Vandergrift plant.

Mr. Uhing was a charter member of Reformation Lutheran Church and the Parks Township Fire Department, both in Parks.

He enjoyed bowling, playing cards and hunting.

Survivors include two sons, James Uhing of Parks and Jack L. (Kathy) Uhing of Oviedo, Fla.; a daughter, Carol (Robert) Tressler of Spring Church in Kiski Township; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul A. Uhing of Kiski Township; and a sister, Margaret Uhing of North Apollo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence G. Moore Uhing; his parents, Steven and Jennie France Uhing; five brothers, William B., John, Clarence, Roy and William R. Uhing; and five sisters, Florence, Mary and Edna Uhing, Martha Stitt and Virginia Deemer.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the DUNMIRE-KERR FUNERAL HOME, Vandergrift, where a service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Officiating will be the Rev. Phil Gustafson.

Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.

Parks Township Fire Department will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
