William B. Uhing, 98, of Pleasantview, Parks, died Saturday (July 13, 2002) in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights, Harrison.

Born Dec. 7, 1903, in Parks, he was a resident of the community his entire life.

Before retiring in 1969, he worked in the hot mill department annealing line for U.S. Steel Corp., Vandergrift, for 50 years.

Mr. Uhing was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church, and a life member of the Parks Township Volunteer Fire Department, both in Parks, and the Armstrong County Firemen's Association.

An avid amateur baker, he enjoyed making homebread bread for his family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, William E. Uhing and Paul E. Uhing, both of Parks; three daughters, Valjean Jury and Eleanor Young of Parks, and Lois Geiger of Surf Side Beach, S.C.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great- great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul A. Uhing of Kiski Township and Harry Uhing of Parks; and a sister, Margaret Uhing of North Apollo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Shaeffer Uhing; a daughter, Gertrude Petrosky; his parents, Steven and Jennie France Uhing: three brothers, John, Clarence, and Roy Uhing; and five sisters, Florence, Martha, Mary and Edna Uhing, and Virginia Deemer.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the DUNMIRE-KERR FUNERAL HOME, Vandergrift. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Reformation Lutheran Church, Parks, with the Rev. Elaine Hower officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
