George Suman was born December 11th, 1822, departed this life July 18th, 1893, aged 70 years, 7 months and 17 days.
Brother Suman was born in the state of Maryland, and was married to Susanna Longman, of that state, October 13, 1842. They continued to live there until the year 1853, at which time they moved to Ohio, and remained there until the fall of 1886, since which time he has been a resident of Indiana. He was the father of fourteen children, nine sons and five daughters, all of whom are yet living, except one daughter, who has preceded him to the spirit world. The children are now all grown to man and womanhood, and are noble citizens of the various states of which they are residents at present.
Father Suman was converted in his 16th year, and joined the U.B. church, of which he was a faithful member until death. For more than fifty years he enjoyed the religion of the Lord Jesus, and manifested the same to a dying world by an upright walk in life. He was a noble, free-hearted man, and always gave liberally of his means to the support of his church, and many a weary itinerant has also been made the happy recipient of the friendship of he and his kind family in the hospitalities of his Christian home. He was truly a Christian man, a good citizen, a loving husband and an indulgent father.
The funeral services were conducted by the writer, assisted by Rev. S.T. Mahan, at the Antioch M.E. church, before a large and sympathizing congregation, who mourned their loss, which was his eternal gain. Chas. Weyer
