Funeral services for Roy E. Dewey, 89, retired postal clerk, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in a chapel of Mothershead Funeral Home, with the Rev. R. Paul Whalen, pastor of First Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn.
Born May 12, 1876, in Iowa, Roy E. Dewey was a son of John and Hannah McCaffrey Dewey. He was a De Soto resident 57 years.
His death occurred Sunday afternoon at his home, 710 North Fourth, after a long period of failing health.
Surviving are: His wife, Eunice (Matteson) Dewey; son, Waldo; one granddaughter, Iva Marie Christopher, De Soto; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Mabel Badgley, Miss Ethlyn Dewey, Miss Virginia Dewey, and Mrs. Mildred McDowell, Cedar Falls, Iowa.
