Janet M. (nee Hickok) Williams, 93, of Riverview Estates, Riverton, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Aug. 8, 2017.
She was born on May 28, 1924, to the late Arthur F. and Annalee Hickok in Troy. She was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Lloyd A. Williams. Together, they served congregations in New Albany and Wilkes-Barre, Edison, New Jersey, and, finally, Oaklyn Baptist Church until their retirement in 1985.
As well as serving as a pastor’s wife and mother of five, Janet also worked a full-time job at the Honda Corporation in Mount Laurel. She has lived at Riverview Estates for the past 19 years, giving her the distinction of being the longest living resident. One of her most cherished accomplishments at the Estates was her work with the clothing boutique, which has been named “Janet’s Boutique” in her honor. She had the wonderful gift of making everyone she met feel special and important. She was a gentle, loving woman of faith who served the Lord every day through her words and actions, giving unyieldingly of her love to family, friends, and her community.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by six siblings.
She will be greatly missed by her sister, Ada Miller. She is survived by her loving children: Barbara McCauley (Art), Lloyd “Larry” (Alyce), Ruth Williams (Derl), Bonnie Smith (Keith), and Susan Riley (Mike), as well as 16 grandchildren, 26 great- grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet Monday, Aug. 14, from noon to 1 p.m. at Oaklyn Baptist Church, 29 E. Bettlewood Ave., Oaklyn, New Jersey. Janet’s funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 1 p.m. at Hunt Cemetery, Troy.
