In the book Descendants of Matthias Chitwood compiled by I.O. Chitwood, Barbara Cassel daughter of Peter Castle was born in TN 1804. She married John Riley Chitwood September 21, 1830 in Campbell Co, TN.

John and Barbara moved to Rush County, Indiana with a large group that included her father and brothers, Peter and Jacob. They appear in 1830 Census for Rush Co, IN and there are land records for John Chitwood and Barbara's father Peter. Her father stays in Rush Co, but John and Barbara continue moving through IN with Barbara's brothers. Eventually, in the mid 1850's John and Barbara move to Richland Co, Wisconsin. They live on a farm that is next to Felton Cemetery were there is a marker for John Riley Chitwood (died 2//14/1875). There is no marker for Barbara here, but it is presumed that she is buried in Felton Cemetery.
