La Porte City, April 26.--In the death of A. J. King, which occurred Wednesday evening about 9 o'clock at his farm home, two and a half miles east of town, this community loses another of its pioneer residents; one that has watched with interest the advance of civilization and from the wild uncultivated land of 60 years ago up to the present high state of cultivation.
Mr. King had been in poor health for several weeks and his advanced age, 85, had added to his infirmities. The immediate cause of his death was paralysis. He was born Oct. 4, 1834, and he leaves the widow and one son, Orin King, Waterloo, to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the M. E. church, in charge of the pastor, Rev. John Gammons. Interment was in West View cemetery.
