“Duff” Richard G. Brown Jr., 73, passed away on July 19, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah after a noble battle with cancer.

He married Karen Rose Brown and they shared 18 happy years together.

He was born in Salt Lake City on April 23, 1944 to Richard & Ruby Brown. As the second of 7 children, he grew up on a farm in Centerville and learned the ethics of hard work.

From this background, and his many talents, he became an entrepreneur, starting and running many businesses.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served an LDS mission to Edinburgh, Scotland. He served in many callings in the church, some favorites being youth Sunday School Teacher and Gospel Doctrine Teacher where every Sunday the class was crowded to overflow. Duff was truly one-of-a-kind.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, horseback riding, gardening, spending time with his family, serving others, and serving in church. He will be remembered for his outgoing kindness and generosity, quick-witted personality, and most of all for being a good father, husband and grandfather. He created many golden memories with them.

He was very devoted to his wife and his father, Richard G. Brown, as their caregiver for the last 7 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife Karen and 16 children: Kyle Brown (Laurie), Jason Brown (Mindy Anne), Brett Brown, Kevin Brown (Sharon), Jeff Brown (Lori), Mindy Brown Neff (Tyrol), Cody Brown (Danielle), Zac Brown (Emily), Megan Brown Burr (Chris), Becca Brown, James Drechsel (Parie), Michael Drechsel (AnnaMae), Christianne Drechsel Valentiner (Tim), Katie Drechsel Brooks (Ben), Andrew Drechsel (Molly Hutchison), and Amy Drechsel Burr (Cody), two brothers Keros Brown and Wendell Brown, two sisters Susan Brown Wright and Judy Brown Cella, 44 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ruby Searle Brown, two brothers Stephen Brown and Tracy Brown, and grandson Kelton Brown.

A Viewing will be held in his honor on Friday, July 28, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Larkin Gardens (1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) Sandy, UT 84092).

The Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 29, 11:00 a.m. at 10975 S. Prescott Dr. Sandy, UT 84092.
