Edith Fassnacht was born 8 June 1883, near Muscotah and received her early education at Stoney Point school. She was an exceptional seamstress. In 1919, she completed a fifteen lesson course on "Home Hygeine & Care of the Sick" given under the auspices of the American Red Cross. She received a grade of 91% and her certificate for home care giving.
In 1909, Edith moved with her parents to Horton, residing there until the death of her father in 1912. In 1914, she and her mother moved back to Muscotah.
Edith was recording Steward on the Methodist Church Board for 28 years, and taught Sunday School for 26 years. She was Past President of the Muscotah Cemetery Association, and while she was president, a tax was levied in the district to care for the cemetery. She was also Past President of the Study Club, Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star #257, and a member of the Methodist Church.
Edith was also known for her baking, and hand work. She not only cared for her mother, but frequently visited the sick in the community. She will be sorely missed. She was a great lady. Her death occurred on Feb. 13, 1970. She was buried at Muscotah, Kansas.
