Creed Earl Tallent, age 89, of Crete, IL, formerly of Chesterton, IN and Chicago, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at his home.
Creed was born in Tellico Plains, TN on July 2, 1928 to James Burl and Myrtle Alice (Newman) Tallent.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mae (Devine) Tallent of Crete, IL; sons, Bill (Julie) Tallent of Washburn, TN and David (Karen) Tallent of Chesterton, IN; daughters, Jean (husband, Emil) Aloia of Crete, IL, Glenda Kramer of Crete, IL and Diane (husband, Mel) Harris of Jamestown, TN; siblings, Jimmy (Sandra), Claude (Eutheria), Susie, Betty, Peggy (Bill), Ella Mae (Lawrence), Mary (Joe) and Lillie (Howard); 18 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Myrtle; sons, Michael Tallent and Kenneth Tallent and daughter, Brenda Sissel; sisters, Linda and Mary Jo and brothers, James “Junior” and Thomas.
Creed retired from Marblehead Lime Company in Chicago, IL. He made friends easily and never met a stranger. He loved telling jokes and had a winning personality. Gardening was his favorite pastime, now God has a new gardener! Above all, he loved his family; his wife, children and grandchildren and they all brought him great joy. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2017, 4:00 pm at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN, 46304. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00 pm.
Private family burial will be held on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at Chesterton Cemetery.
