Olga is a daughter of Nilius Kaalstad and Hedda Andreason - the fourth of eleven children born to them. Olga's family joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Olga immigrated to Utah in 1909. She was nineteen. Her parents came in 1911.
On September 15, 1915 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Olga married Juel Christensen. Juel and Olga worked their way through the depression and raising their children. Olga worked for 25 years as a mail at Hotel Newhouse.
There are four children: Alfred, Parley Norman, Robert Juel, and Edith Olga. The family lost Alfred when he was almost sixteen from a ruptured appendix. Edith lived only a few hours. Olga lost Juel in 1954 from cancer.
