SECOND PANTHER BAGGED BY BURROWS
CHROME – Otto Burrows scored his second panther in two weeks Thursday morning near the Log Springs road. Burrows put his dogs onto panther tracks about nine-thirty on the road below the Conklin orchard. The hounds tracked the cat a short way to where it was breakfasting on a deer. The animal was treed and shot.
The panther was an exceptionally large, stocky male measuring six feet five inches from nose to tip of its tail.
Burrows was accompanied by Clyde Cushman on the morning hunt, which had taken them into Grindstone. They were on their way home when they spotted the tracks. – Transcribed by M.

OTTO BURROWS RITES BEING HELD TODAY
Funeral services are being held this afternoon at the Millsaps cemetery, west of Orland, for Otto Burrows, lifelong resident and son of one of Glenn county's earliest pioneer families. He died Tuesday at the hospital in Red Bluff, where he had been under treatment for some time. Rev. Elmer Silver of Elk Creek is conducting the graveside rites.
Burrows was born August 13, 1898 at Chrome and had been engaged in ranching for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Burrows, his mother, Mrs. Minnie Burrows, both of Chrome; four children, Gerald and Hollis Burrows, both of Chrome; Mrs. Lois Silver of Elk Creek, and Mrs. Joyce Smith of Harris, Humboldt County; two brothers, Bernie Burrows of Chrome and R.G. Burrows of Red Bluff. Seven grandchildren also survive. – Transcribed by M.
