Danville- Buford “Red” Bryan Curry, 93, of Carmel, IN formerly of Danville, IL passed away at 5:09 pm at Bickford of Carmel Assisted Living and Memory Care in Carmel, IN on June 11, 2017.

Buford was born on March 23, 1924 in Danville, IL the son of Clifford and Mossie (McKinney) Curry. He was raised in Green County, KY before moving back to Illinois as a teenager.

He married Ruth Hubner on November 2, 1946 in Milford, IL and she preceded him in death on July 19, 2012.

He is survived by one son, Larry (Darlene) Curry of Newberg, OR, two daughters, Sharon (JD) Hawkins of Placida, FL and Diane (John) Wallace of Carmel, IN, six grandchildren, Jeff and Kevin Austin, Brad and Bryan Leaver and Jason and Alex Wallace, five great-grandchildren and eight great great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

In addition to his wife, Ruth, Buford is preceded in death by his parents, one son, David Curry, two brothers, Truman and Harvey Curry as well as two sisters Catherine Beard and Charlene Stephens.

Buford proudly served in the United States Marine Corp stationed in the South Pacific during World War II. He owned Curry Brothers Roofing and Siding for many years and later worked and retired from Danville Metal Stamping.

He lived a full life and had many interests and hobbies. Music and playing guitar remained an important part of his life. His country & western band, the Midwest Melody Boys, held live Saturday night shows at the Tilton Civic Center for several years. He was also an MC for many famous Country Artists who performed in the Danville area.

Buford was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed fishing, piloting small planes, gardening, bird watching, reading westerns and traveling. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was happy to see their long awaited 2016 World Series Championship.

Buford was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville, IL.
