Isaac was the 2nd son of Pleasant B. and Rachel Binam. He was born on 23 July 1860 -- one month after the 1860 census was taken that summer. He was included in the 1870 census with his sisters and Jasper. He was named after his mother's only brother, Isaac R. Phillips. [When his mother, Rachel, was asked in 1900 how many children she had and how many had survived she replied that she had had four children and three survived. Nancy Jane having died in the early 1890's. It seems odd that she apparently left out one child.]

Enumerated on 14 Jun 1880 in Buffalo Twp, Newton Co, MO as a farm laborer who could neither read nor write. Said he was a white male and living with the family of James J. and Mary A. Foster who were 15 years his senior. They had four children and were farmers. [there are no other Fosters in this family]. Isaac's name was spelled Bynam.

Isaac could neither read nor write. His wife and children went by the spelling BYNUM for all of their lives. Sadly, there appears to have been no contact with his siblings' families.

Married Rhoda Ellen "Ella" Page about 1884 in AR. Had 3 children: Ollie Rachel (1885-1935), Willis Isaac (1886 - ?), and Dollie Mae (1894 - ?).
