Nancy Jane was the oldest daughter of Pleasant and Rachel Binam. She was born in Newton County, AR on February 4, 1854. At the age of 19, she married a local farmer named William Henry Baughman (b. Kansas) on August 10, 1873. They were married by an itinerant minister on loan from Carroll County to Newton County. The marriage is duly recorded in the old record book in the County Court House in Jasper, Arkansas. They either built on or next to Rachel Binam's farm because they were enumerated in 1880 as being next door. Three children were born to this marriage: Rachel Ann (b. June 6, 1874), Jasper McDonald "Mack" (b. September 1, 1876), and Margaret Millcena (b. February 17, 1879). Nancy Jane and her husband, William, were annotated in the 1880 census as living on a farm next door to Nancy's mother, brother, and sister. She named all of her children after her Binam family. Nancy Jane died from an unknown cause sometime before June 1882 and her husband, William Baughman, then remarried twice before 1900. William Henry subsequently had three children with these other wives.
